Following in his father’s footsteps, Dr. William Kotteman chose the field of orthodontics to make a difference in his patients’ lives, and in return, has found great personal fulfillment in his profession. He began his dental education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he graduated in 1976. Dr. Kottemann then obtained his Orthodontic Certificate and Masters of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1978. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) in 1989. As a member of the Speakers’ Bureau and Clinical Faculty for Align Technology, Dr. Kottemann presents over 60 lectures a year, traveling around the country to teach orthodontists how to use Invisalign® to treat complex orthodontic cases. He finds real joy and excitement in sharing his clinical knowledge with other orthodontic professionals. Dr. Kottemann is active in several additional professional organizations, including the: American Association of Orthodontists American Dental Association Minnesota Dental Association Donated Dental Services A native of Iowa City, IA, Dr. Kottemann has lived in Orono, MN for the past 30 years. He and his wife, Jean, have two sons, Kraig and Scott, both of whom have joined him in orthodontic practice. When Dr. Kottemann is not in the office, he enjoys playing golf, boating, skiing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Throughout his life, Dr. Kraig Kottemann has seen first-hand the amazing effects that orthodontic treatment has in the lives of patients. To begin his orthodontic career, Dr. Kottemann attended the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a double degree in Biology and Art Studio. He continued on to the University of Arizona School of Dentistry for his Doctorate of Dental Medicine, and completed his formal education at the University of Minnesota, receiving his Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Kottemann is passionate about the new technologies that have been recently incorporated in the orthodontic profession, making treatment times shorter and much more comfortable for patients. He continued his education, focusing on the advancements in new wires, temporary anchorage devices, and laser treatment, which continues to make orthodontic treatment exciting and brings new challenges to the field. Dr. Kottemann is active in the following professional organizations: American Association of Orthodontists American Dental Association Minnesota Dental Association Give Kids a Smiles Smiles Change Lives When he’s not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Kottemann enjoys spending time with his wife, Laura Kottemann DMD, a pediatric dentist in the Orono area. They have three-year-old twin girls, Valerie and Olivia, and an incredibly naughty beagle named Bailey. Dr. Kottemann spends most of his time chasing his kids around the house, but does enjoy basketball, water sports, and playing golf when he gets the chance.

Dr. Kottemann attended dental school at the University of Michigan, and completed his orthodontic residence at the University of Minnesota where he is now a faculty member. Dr. Kottemann is an instructor for the orthodontic residents at the University of Minnesota where he teaches clinical skills and biomechanics. As a member of several local study clubs, Dr. Kottemann also attends numerous conferences and courses each year to keep current on the most advanced, innovative orthodontic treatment options, including Invisalign®. Dr. Rosemary Lelich attended the University of Pennsylvania for both her undergraduate and dental school training. She returned to the Twin Cities for residency at the University of Minnesota, where she completed her Masters degree doing cell biology research. She serves on the board of Minnesota Association of Orthodontics and remains involved with the University of Minnesota through an international exchange program with the University of Valencia, in Spain.
